Water World to close four rides that have been at the park for over 40 years

If you’ve been to Water World in Denver in the last 40 plus years, you’ve likely visited its Calypso Cove area. Here’s to hoping your favorite ride wasn’t in that part of the park, as this will be the last season for the four rides there.

The Calypso Cove section of the park, home to Screamin’ Mimi, Tortuga Run, Pirates Plunge and Wally World, will be closed beginning Monday, Aug. 25.

Don’t fret though, the park is planning a major construction project in that area of the park with fresh attractions and modern amenities.

Water World said a Calypso Cove farewell celebration will be held on Sunday, Aug. 24. The park said there will be free popsicles, mascots, swag and prize giveaways.

Water World said it would share more details about its new attractions planned for the 2026 season later this fall.
